UV12 The Lepidopterist - Compact Double 20w Skinner Moth Trap
The Lepidopterist - Compact Double 20w Skinner Moth Trap in special white reflective PP With the huge success of the Compact Skinner Moth Trap (UV10) we went on to design a Compact Skinner Moth Trap in a special white polypropylene (PP) with double 20w bulbs. The added advantage of the white PP is that it reflects the UVA given out by the actinic bulbs rather than absorbing it, this in turn increases the catch. In addition to this the two 20w actinic bulbs will catch more than a single bulb. All in all, an excellent catch rate. Very popular for in the garden and in the field.
Manufactured in lightweight and durable white polypropylene.
Easy to assemble. Fully flat packs.
Excellent catch rates.
Dimensions: 35cmx35cmx32 cm box height. 42x36x6cm flat packed
Total height with rain guard 48cm.
Weight (with electrics) 4kg.
UK Step-up Voltage Converter 110V - 220V. A small plug-in converter allowing UK power mains devices 240Vac units to be powered from a 110Vac main outlet is available for this Trap (see UV20 on the Moth Traps-electrics page.) Useful for our North American customers or UK customers travelling to North America.
This moth trap is Mains only (not suitable for a battery) - provided with a 5 metre cable and 3-pin plug

I love the Lepidopterist: it has become my favourite trap and I remain astonished at its pulling power - last autumn it regularly outperformed my MV – James Lowen (Norfolk)
Trap on tonight. Been getting some great hauls with The Lepidopterist, up to 60 species some nights. It's very good at retaining moths especially micros. - Gary Hibberd, Warden of Home Dunes NNR, Norfolk Wildlife Trust
This year I purchased the white reflective double Skinner trap (The Lepidopterist). I have been more than pleased with the results. The catch rate compares very favourably with a 125w M.V.trap and on some occasions out performs. Moth retention is very good, easily portable and the white polypropylene and double 20W bulbs are a definite plus. Most nights I have experienced a catch of fifty to over a hundred moths. Overall a very good trap that I would highly recommend. - Mike Prentice, Suffolk
Out of all the moth traps we used at Finca La Molina, Andalucia, Spain last week The Lepidopterist 2X20watt (UV12) was the most successful moth trap, outperforming the two 125w and the 2X2w LED. We changed the locations for the 2X20watt with one of the 125w and the catch was still best from the 2X20watt. The carry bag was great as I could get two of these compact traps plus bulbs and egg trays inside it. - Graham Ekins, Essex
I just wanted to say thank you for a terrific product. My wife and I have had many hours of fun trapping, viewing, identifying and photographing moths. So far we have identified about 200 species. As I am partially disabled it is so wonderful to have a wildlife hobby that is based in the garden and is done at worktop height. Provided I keep it clean (which I do) the white surfaces are such an excellent background for photographing the moths outdoors. - Tim Boyce, Hampshire
Well, the trap certainly turned up trumps in Devon with the 3rd record of Maize Wainscot, 3 Convolvulus Hawks and a supporting cast of Hummingbird Hawk, Delicate, Scarce Bordered Straw and lots of Silver Y and Dark Swordgrass! - Sarah Patton, Surrey
